A Quiet Spot, Close to Everything

Bolingbroke is a small community in southeastern Monroe County, set between Interstate 75 and Interstate 475 just north of Macon. Downtown Macon is about 14 miles away by I-75. We work in Bolingbroke as concrete contractors on driveways, patios, walks, slabs and repairs, and the jobs here tend to reflect the area's wooded, spread-out lots.

A town that became a community

Bolingbroke was founded in 1867 and named for Henry St John, 1st Viscount Bolingbroke. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated it in 1912, and it stopped being a municipality in 1995. It was first listed as a census-designated place in 2020, with 497 residents in about 1.9 square miles. The community hosts the Bolingbroke Southern Jam music festival, held since 2009, and an annual Christmas parade.

Bolingbroke has no city government of its own, so we check with Monroe County on what your project needs before we start.

Where the hills begin

Monroe County sits on the fall line, between the Piedmont to the north and the coastal plain to the south. Bolingbroke, at about 518 feet, is on that transition. Lots here often roll a bit, and there is more slope than in the flat country south of Macon.

For concrete, slope changes the plan:

  • We grade so the driveway carries water to the sides without eroding them
  • We set control joints closer on slopes, where slabs see more stress
  • We pay attention to transitions at the garage and the road so cars do not scrape
  • We thicken edges where soil could wash away

Trees and shade

Where a lot is wooded, shade keeps a patio cooler in summer, but trees also drop leaves and sap that stain concrete, and their roots can lift slabs. When we plan a new patio or walk near trees, we keep a reasonable distance from big trunks where we can and use thicker sections with more reinforcement where roots are likely. A good sealer makes leaf and tannin stains easier to clean.

Popular projects

Driveways: Many Bolingbroke homes sit back from the road on gravel or old asphalt drives. Replacing that with concrete gives a cleaner, longer-lasting surface.

Patios and stamped concrete: A shaded backyard patio is a natural fit here. Stamped patterns that resemble natural stone suit the wooded setting.

Walkways: A walk from the drive to the front door, or a path out to a workshop or garden.

Slabs: Bases for sheds, shops and carports on larger lots.

Repair: Fixing cracks and replacing sections lifted by roots or settled by runoff.

Interstate access cuts both ways

Being between two interstates makes Bolingbroke easy to reach for us and for concrete deliveries. But some homes sit on narrow roads off the main routes. If your driveway is long, steep or tight, tell us when you call. We will plan truck access, and if needed, use a pump or smaller loads.

A short hop up I-75

Downtown Macon is 14 miles southeast of Bolingbroke on I-75, and I-475 runs on the other side of the community. Most driveway and patio jobs here can be poured in one morning, which matters in summer: the less time a load spends on the road, the more working time we have to place and finish it before the heat stiffens it. On shaded, wooded lots, we also plan sealing for after leaf drop so the first coat goes on clean concrete.

Bolingbroke Questions

Who handles permits for concrete work in Bolingbroke?

Bolingbroke is not an incorporated city, so we ask Monroe County what your project needs before the work is scheduled.

Will tree roots crack my new patio?
